A 7th generation child of rural Missouri whose film work has taken her across the US, China, and many places in between, Holden was recently named one of Filmmaker Magazine’s “25 New Faces of Independent Film.”
Holden’s Solitary/Release, a documentary-fiction hybrid about her brother’s struggle with drug addiction, had its critically acclaimed world premiere at the 2010 SXSW Film Festival.
Her second narrative short, HIGHWAY FF, is a cinematic poem set on the hauntingly desolate Great Plains. Shot and acted entirely by Holden & her partner Matt Burr, HIGHWAY FF will be released in Fall 2010.
Holden is founder of LiveFree Films, a non profit documentary company that brings unheard voices and stories to global audiences. She formerly worked as a film & network TV editor (PBS, NBC,VH1) and was Head Producer for Wieden + Kennedy China.
Holden splits her time between Brooklyn, Missouri, and China. She is currently in development on two features, a micro budget film set in a forgotten corner of rural America and a low budget epic that intertwines the lives of two heroines, one in small town Missouri, the other in industrial China.

Matt is the Executive Producer at haofilms and the CEO of Fifty Lessons, a leading business learning company. At haofilms, Matt takes care of business, helping to secure financing, distribution, and partnerships and working with Holden to help realize her creative vision.
At Fifty Lessons, Matt oversees the growth of one of world’s most innovative business learning companies. Before taking on the dual role of EP/CEO, Matt spent 7 years living in China, working in various media and education ventures, with jobs ranging from kindergarten teacher to CEO of a publicly listed company.
